A Precious Gift

Barbara was sitting in her rocking chair knitting. She was knitting a cute pink sweater for her granddaughter. Her face lighted up into a smile as she thought about her sweet Libby. She looked so much like her daughter Karen, when she was a baby. She was very excited when Karen told her she was pregnant. However, she could not have imagined the joy she would feel when Karen handed her the little bundle to hold at the hospital! She simply sobbed with joy when she beheld Libby's face!

Barbara wished Karen's family did not live so far away. She wanted to see Libby more often! However, she decided she could knit something for Libby, and recall her chubby face, cute smiles, and gurgling laughter while she knitted.

The door bell rang! Barbara was about to get up when her husband, Rob, waved her to sit back down, and went to the door. It was the mail man! Barbara went back to her knitting. Rob was exchanging pleasantries with the mail man. Then, Barbara heard Rob close the door. He came in and stood before Barbara, a smile on his face. He was holding a package in his hand. Karen could see the silent excitement on Rob's face.

She asked, "Who is it from?"

Rob handed her the package, "Karen!"

Barbara felt excited too. She said, "Why don't you open it?"

"I thought you would like to do it!" Rob smiled and answered.

Barbara put her knitting down, and reached out for the package. She loved Rob for being so sweet.

She tore open the brown paper, and ripped the box open. It was a picture frame, with no picture in it! She passed the picture frame to Rob, and read the note from Karen that accompanied the frame.

"It's a digital photo frame!" Barbara exclaimed excitedly.

Rob immediately knew what to do. He was a technical guy. He loved messing with electronic gadgets! Soon, Barbara and Rob were staring at the digital frame, looking at pictures and video clips of Libby! They laughed, cried (Barbara), and oohed, and aahed, as they saw Libby doing different things, like chewing on her own toes, being bathed, asleep in Karen's arms...

When Barbara could finally tear her eyes away from the amazing digital picture frame, she took up the phone and called Karen. She told Karen what a precious gift she had given her and Rob.
