Pathetic Parents

Went to this basketball game at the neighborhood high school one time. My husband worked for this high school, so naturally, we supported the home team. However, my husband was helping his friend, who happened to be one of the basketball coaches, working the clock, so I went to the game with my son. We were late, and I did not realise I was sitting on the visitor side of the spectator stand.

It was not a big deal, I thought. However, I regretted my "mistake" when I had to sit through the yelling from a "too" involved fan, or parent of the opposing team! He had a loud voice, and seemed to be in a rage throughout the whole game. I was afraid my two-year-old would never want to come to a basketball game any more, or worse, pick up bad yelling habits! This man was sitting right behind me. He yelled at our players a few times, and also at the referees when they called foul on the guys of the opposing team! His favorite yell was, "You are pathetic - all of you!" I could not help thinking to myself, "You are more pathetic, acting in such an immature way!" I was afraid his yelling would evoke some immature rage from our less mature high school fans! How pathetic that would be then!
