It was freezing! Bao-er thought she loved snow, and would exchange the scorching summer heat she was so used to all her life, for snow! However, as she stood in the snow on her unsteady snow-board, she was not so sure she liked snow that much! She had been taking snow-boarding lessons for the last couple of hours. She did not do too good. The young kids in her "class" seemed to soak in the instructions like sponges! Bao-er felt awkward on her snow-board, and wished she could take it off soon!
However, she did not want to give up so easily. She paid for those lessons! Her friends, who were seasoned skiers, and snow-boarders, would not want to waste a day of good skiing. In fact, they were flying down the more difficult slopes, while Bao-er was struggling to get up the bunny-slope. This was her fifth try to hang on to the lift (kind of a pulley, rather), and get up to the top of the bunny-slope without falling. It was so embarrassing to go a little up the slope, and then crumbled in a heap as her snow-board slipped "out of place"! Bao-er had to let go of the handle, and start all over again, at the foot of the slope, at the back of the line.
Tired of the sympathetic looks from the other people waiting in line, Bao-er decided to walk up the slope, then put the snow-board on. She did that a number of times, and cautiously snow-boarded down the slope. She was beginning to enjoy herself. She thought if she went really slow, she could actually save herself a few falls. She felt ready to go on the green slope. The ski lift that took her up the green slope was the "normal" lift - one she could sit on. She did not fall off that lift - thankfully. However, when she got off the ski-lift, she fell again. She quickly scrambled out of the way, to avoid being hit by the next lift carrying other skiers! She stood up unsteadily on her snow-board, and looked around. The scenery took her breath away! She was happy she persevered long enough to be able to get up there!
