Bao-er laughed as Shooby shared her views about country music with her. Shooby was singing parts of one country song to her, "There's a tear in my beer, I'm crying for you dear...". Bao-er cracked up, and was afraid the rest of the crowd at MacDonalds might think she was crazy! Shooby sang the few lines in a nasal voice, making it even funnier.
When Bao-er was little, she loved singing. She sang mostly Chinese songs, because her brother only listened to those. He bought a lot of records. Bao-er and her sisters would sing along while the records were playing. She did not know then, that one popular singer her brother used to like, sang a lot of songs translated from American country music. She told Shooby she knew some country songs, and sang them to Shooby in Chinese. It was Shooby's turn to crack up!
The lyrics of most country songs might be a little strange, and full of self-pity, beer, or even jail! However, Bao-er thought country music was unique in its own way. When she was in a certain mood, she would only listen to country music.
